The information in this report updates the\u00a0<a class=\"tp-link-policy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/std\/treatment\/2010\/default.htm\">Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines, 2010<\/a>\u00a0(<em>MMWR<\/em>\u00a0Recomm Rep 2010;59 [No. RR\u201312]). These updated guidelines discuss<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>alternative treatment regimens for\u00a0<em>Neisseria gonorrhoeae<\/em>;<\/li>\n<li>the use of nucleic acid amplification tests for the diagnosis of trichomoniasis;<\/li>\n<li>alternative treatment options for genital warts;<\/li>\n<li>the role of\u00a0<em>Mycoplasma genitalium<\/em>\u00a0in urethritis\/cervicitis and treatment-related implications;<\/li>\n<li>updated HPV vaccine recommendations and counseling messages;<\/li>\n<li>the management of persons who are transgender;<\/li>\n<li>annual testing for hepatitis C in persons with HIV infection;<\/li>\n<li>updated recommendations for diagnostic evaluation of urethritis; and<\/li>\n<li>retesting to detect repeat infection.
